Re: Immigration Shipping Records #latvia

Thank you for asking, Martha, it gave me an opportunity to investigate.

It appears that I have been misinformed. I was told some years ago, that
you could get the original contract. I have not had any research interest
in any of the passengers, so I have not tried it.
However, now I found out that the information was not true as all the
original contracts (= tickets) are lost.

I regret that I sent out misinformation.

The contract number can, however, be used to find out if family members
travelled together, because families travelling togehter often had the
same contract number.

In the search form you can enter the contract number you have found as
well as the date of registration (year and month). The date of registration
is important, because the contract numbers start anew each year.

Best regards

When you have the contract number you can order further information
from the Danish Emigration Archives: http://www.emiarch.dk/ home.php3?l=en
What would the further information be like, Elsebeth? What would it
tell us?
