Why do places in Eastern Europe (Galicia, Bailen, etc.) have the same names as places in Spain? #latvia

According to one of the theories, many Jews expelled >from Spain went
to live in Holland, and later they moved >from Holland to Germany.
Later still >from Germany to Eastern Europe. This may not be true for
all Jews expelled >from Spain, but it certainly explains why some of us
Eastern European Jews have Spanish--or even Dutch--sounding names.
