Yizkor Book Project, December 2014 #latvia

Lance Ackerfeld <lance.ackerfeld@...>

Shalom,

It would seem appropriate at this time of the year to look back
and somehow summarize the activities of the Yizkor Book Project
during 2014 . In a few words, then, I would like to note that at
the end of the past there were:

- Over 800 projects online, of which, 40 which were added this
past year.
- Nearly 2,000 entries online, of which, 32 which were added this
past year. Entries, by-the-way, refer to chapters on particular
communities that have been added. For instance, any article on a
community appearing in the Pinkas Hakehillot (Encyclopedia of
Jewish Communities) that is added, is counted as an "entry".
- We now have just over a 100 books that now appear online in
their entirety, quite a number of which were completed in 2014.
- 9 new printed translations published over the past year by Joel
Alpert and his dedicated team. In the past month, "The Memorial
Book of Serock" was added to the available list of books and rumor
has it that a number of other books will soon be added - more next
report.

Whilst I do think these figures are impressive, it's clear that a
lot of work is still ahead of us. As such, we do appreciate any
assistance to the projects that you can give financially-wise or
in volunteer work. As always, I would like to point out that these
translations shed a great deal of light on the communities and
people annihilated in the Holocaust and are to the benefit of so
many of us around the world.

Now to facts and figures for December.
