In early May I will be visiting Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Hungary to
get a close up view of the countries of my ancestors.
These are far away >from my place of birth, Cape Town, South Africa and
even further >from Perth, Australia, where I now live.
My years of interest in genealogy will blend with my desire to get a
modern day exposure to cultures and places quite foreign to me, yet
historically of great relevance to my Jewish roots.
I have been given some good pointers >from researchers and project
co-ordinators in these regions. Thanks!
Anyone who would like to offer me advice, contact names or genealogical
travel tips in these places, this will be appreciated.
I plan to record my experiences on the internet as I travel.
I am researching the following family names and places:
ZELDIN, SELDIN, YONIN, YONIE - Latvia - Riga and Daugavpils
HIRSHZON, HIRSHSON, HARRISON, HERISON - Lithuania - Kruk, Krakes, Kovno
ZOREF, SALOMON - Lithuania - Kaidan
SKARASJEWSKI, SZERESZEWSKI, SKORISHEVSKI,RISHELEVSKI, RYSZELEWSKA,
RYSHELEVSKI - Poland - Orla (near Bialystok)
REITSTEIN, ROTSZTEJN, BLASZKA, BLASHKER - Poland - Nasielsk
