Hi, all!

According to two granddaughters of Zara Piel Glaser (1856-1946) of
Tryskiai and Brooklyn, NY:

Zara (my great-grandmother) drank tea with cherry preserves in the
bottom of the glass. At 4 P.M. each day she went into her room filled
with plants and canaries, closed the door, took care of the plants and
the birds, and had tea. She asked to be left alone unless there was a
fire. (She bore 14 children; 11 reached adulthood.)
