Mother and daughter names #lithuania

A couple of weeks ago I attended a Reform synagogue service in the Bay
Area for the first time (celebrating a family barmitzva). I had been
asked to give my mothers hebrew name as well as my fathers for an aliya
(reading of the law). In checking my mothers hebrew name I discovered it
to have been Khaya Vikhna and last month asked you Litvak sigs about Vikhna.

What also puzzled me at the time was the fact that her mother was called
Khaya Anni (ayin nun yud). Since my grandmother was sensitive to
traditional Jewish customs and especially its superstitions (hence my name)
I have to assume that she regarded it as acceptable to give her daughter
the same first name as herself if she was given a different second name.
