Having been surprised by my mothers and grandmothers Hebrew /Yiddish names I am paying more attention to other members of my family. Could any litvaksigger help me understand the wording on my grandfathers headstone. It reads in Hebrew: "Hechaver Avraham Note (spelled nun tet ayin) benreb Itamar".
1) What would the word Hechaver refer to?
2) Would I be right to assume that Note is yiddish for Nathan and if so shouldn't the Hebrew word Natan have appeared before Note?
3) Was Itamar in common useage in the 19 Century before Eliezer Ben Yehuda's son popularized the name by using it as part of his pen name?
