I am looking for information about or any family of Nochem SILVERMAN of
Girkalnis (Girtagole, Girtagoly), Lithuania. He sailed on the S.S.
Rotterdam on June 23rd 1906 and arrived in New York at Ellis Island on July
5, 1906. Nochum was 18 years old and the ship's manifest lists his
occupation as tailor. Nochum was going to his sister, E. Silverman, who was
at 15 Harding Street, Worcester, Massachusetts.
I am trying to piece together the ZILBERMAN family of Girkalnis and link
them to the TATZ and other families of Girkalnis, Raiseiniai and Pasvyntys.
I am the granddaughter of a ZILBERMAN >from Girkalnis. If you are related to
Nochum or Elizabeth we may be cousins.
I have searched for Nochum in WWI Draft lists and various US censuses but
have not found him. He may have changed his first name to something like
Nathan, Nat, Ned, etc.
