New records distributed to the LitvakSIG Ukmerge District Research Group #lithuania

The following new records have recently been distributed to the qualified
donors of the Ukmerge District Research Group via the group's Shutterfly
website.

An update to the Troskunai 1893-1915 postal bank records

An update to the Utena Internal Passport records file to add the next
batch of records (Batch 6)

A new file: Lithuanian Prisoners List: 1922 - 1940 containing the
first batch of records

The Lithuanian Prisoners List file contains 4200 individual files of
persons who were in Lithuanian prisons between 1925 - 1940. Each file
contains a wealth of information, i.e. place of birth, age, father's
name, where arrested, details of arrest, etc. In most cases photographs
of the prisoner are also included - right profile, left profile, and
front view.About 40% of the prisoners were Jewish. They were either
suspected of or convicted for being a Communist. Thus far, 1000 Jewish
prisoners have been identified and we estimate that about another 1000
records will be found. When completed the entire list of prisoners,
including all of the information, will be made available to each of
the LitvakSIG District Research Groups that has provided funding to
support the translation efforts (which includes the Ukmerge group).

As previously mentioned, the Utena Internal Passport records are being
distributed to the qualified Ukmerge District Research Group donors through
a cooperative arrangement with the LitvakSIG Internal Passport Project.
The translation of the Utena Internal Passport records is continuing and
will be distributed to the Ukmerge DRG group as they become available.

You can learn more about the Ukmerge District Research group, including
the towns that are included in the district at:

http://ukmerge.shutterfly.com

If you are researching any of the towns in Ukmerge District I would again
like to encourage you to make a contribution to support our record transl=
ation efforts. To make a contribution to the group, please go to:

http://www.litvaksig.org/contribute

and select the Ukmerge group on the District Research Group line of
the table.

A qualifying contribution requires a donation of at least $100 to help
defray the cost of translations but smaller amounts are always welcome
as well.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need more information about
the group.

Many thanks!
