The Zarasai District Research Group has recently been given the
translated internal passport records for the towns of Rokiskis and
These two lists provide information on over 3000 people, who lived in
these towns between 1919 and 1940. One of the exciting features of
these records is that they often state a family's physical address.
Many of the people listed in the records were born in other towns in
the district and may thus be relevant not only to people interested in
Zarasai and Rokiskis.
The records have now been posted to the Shutterfly website of Zarasai
District Research Group. Access to this website is available to
contributors. A Contribution totaling $100 or more qualifies an
individual and, for the next five years, provides access to the
website, as well as exclusive access to all newly translated records
for at least 18 months before they are made publicly available on the
All Lithuania Database (ALD). Your tax deductible (for US taxpayers)
contributions can be made to www.litvaksig.org/contribute by credit
card, or by check at the address that is listed there. Please be sure
to designate the Zarasai DRG as the recipient.
