New video on the restoration of the Jewish cemetery in Bialystok #poland

Dear Fellow Bialystokers:

The wonderful folks who have been involved every August in efforts to
restore the Bagnowka Jewish Cemetery in Bialystok have produced a new
video about their project. Their two-week summer restoration program for
2019 will be year four of this project. You can view the video at two
sources: https://youtu.be/8zqojR7Avoc and https://vimeo.com/321872679.

The Bagnowka Cemetery is maintained year around by local Jewish
Community representative Lucy Lisowska. For years, Dr. Heidi Szpek has
documented the Matzevot and supports this project as well (see
https://jewish-heritage-europe.eu/have-your-say/epitaphs-poignant-connections-to-a-world-now-gone/).
The project to use motorized equipment to restore over 300 Matzevot per
year is led by Josh and Amy Degen and Howie and Paula Flagler with local
support of Waldek Mierzejewski. I was in Bialystok last August and saw
first-hand the efforts of these people and the other volunteers. These
efforts are a blessing for my ancestors who were buried in this Cemetery
from 1892 through 1936 and to all Bialystoker Jews in the diaspora.
You can find out more about this project and how to support it at
