In spite of the fact that I have so much original documentation (military
records, internal travel documents and international passport) for my g
grandfather, I am totally stymied on this branch of my family. I know
that Michel Eliezer GORDON was born in 1865 in Daugeliskis. He was the son
of Eliash GORDON and Leah.
Eliash GORDON is a pretty common name in the Vilna area, but I finally
found an Eliash in Daugeliskis in the 1858 Revision List that looks
promising. The only problem is that his wife's name was Zlata, not Leah.
No children are mentioned. *But*....his first child's name was Chana Zlata.
So, I'm wondering if perhaps Zlata died in childbirth, the daughter got
her mother's name and then he remarried Leah.
I know Eliash was a hay and grain merchant and that he died young
(probably mid 1870s) of a hernia. Shortly after the 3 known children
started moving to Elizavetgrad.
I have no idea how to find out more information! Is the information in the
All Lithuania Database that's transcribed >from the Revision List including
all information >from the List? Does anyone have any suggestions as to how
I can find out more? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
