LitvakSIG at the Upcoming IAJGS Conference in Cleveland #lithuania

We have several great sessions during conference week that are either
directly or indirectly related to Lithuanian research, highlighted by
LitvakSIG's annual meeting and luncheon. Here's a brief summary but
for more detailed information, look these up in either the conference
app or the website:

Sunday, July 28
4:15 pm to 5:30 pm: "A Rose by Any Other Name" presented by Garri
Regev and covering challenges in researching names with various

Monday, July 29
10:45 am to Noon: "History and Geography: Helpful Eastern Europe
Research Tools" presented by Amy Wachs and will provide guidance in
overcoming brick walls in your research

10:45 am to Noon: "Researching your LItvak Heritage - with LitvakSIG
and beyond" presented by Judy Baston and will provide advice on how to
utlitize the many LitvakSIG resources including the two million plus
records in the All Lithuanian Database

1:45 pm to 3:00 pm: "Vilnius Household Registers One Year Later: The
Latest and Greatest in Litvak Records" presented by Russ Maurer, who
will update regarding the progress on this exciting new project that was
announced in Warsaw a year ago.

Tuesday, July 30
10:45 am to Noon: LitvakSIG Annual Meeting - this will include
updates on activities throughout the year, financial report,
president's report, and election of officers

12:15 pm to 1:30 pm: LitvakSIG Luncheon - our guest speaker, Elliot
Matz, will talk about the project to expand the Lithuanian Open-Air
Museum in Rumsiskes, Lithuania. Our original speaker, Mr Vaidas
Agurkis >from the Lithuanian Central Archives unfortunately had to
cancel due to a sudden and serious health condition. Note that
tickets are sold out for the luncheon but if you have a ticket and are
unable to attend, tickets are exchangeable so you can post on the
message board at the conference itself. If you don't have a ticket
and want one, keep checking the message board at the conference venue.

4:45 pm to 6:00 pm: "Documenting the Vilna Ghetto Library" presented
by Judy Baston who will talk about the amazing library and her
discovery of three of her cousins who were library patrons

Wednesday, July 31
1:45 pm to 3:00 pm: "In-Evidence: The Map of the Holocaust by Bullets,
Resource to Find Information" presented by Kateryna Duzenko who will
discuss this resource related to Holocaust massacres

Friday, August 2
10:45 am to Noon: "Who was Aunt Dora? Unraveling the Cohens and the
Levines" presented by Barbara Ellman

BOF (Birds of a Feather) meetings:
The following BOF groups will be holding meetings throughout the
conference: Kupiskes and Rokiskes, Lida/Oshmiany, Siauliai, Vilnius
DRG and Vilnius Household Registers, Podzelva, Trakai, and Klaipeda.
Check the latest program schedule for date, time and location. Use
