July 2001 Yizkor Book Project Report #poland #lodz

Joyce Field

Despite a vacation period in July which left a skeletal staff for the
Yizkor Book Project, Lance Ackerfeld managed to add one new Yizkor
Book to our long list of translations and to update 12 books. Lance
also used his time productively by converting large numbers of our
oidest files to our new format.

Our Library Infofile and Database group also made significant
additions: we now have 9,287 call numbers and feature 52 libraries
that have large collections of yizkor books. We added Jewish National
and University Library in Jerusalem, at Hebrew University, Givat Ram
campus (601 books), Center for Holocaust Studies/Clark University (36
books), and University of Texas (225 books).

Thanks,
Harriet Brown and Martin Kessel.

As always I would like to remind you of the yizkor book fundraising
projects which need your support. Many of our yizkor books can be
translated only by professional translators who are paid for their
remarkable work. If you have been helped by these translations,
please show your appreciation by providing financial support so that
more can be translated and put online. Some of the projects are
languishing because of a lack of funds. Please consider a
supplementary donation to JewishGen Operations, which provides the
infrastructure and administration for the Yizkor Book Project.
