Zgierz #poland #lodz

I visited Lodz and Zgierz in May 2002. I had a good guide, and had very
good success in getting photocopies of documents >from the USC in both towns.

But we did less well in getting archival materials related to Zgierz. We
visited the two archives in Lodz (where, as usual, I found having a
Polish-speaking guide essential!). But we could find nothing of value for
Zgierz, such as voter lists, census lists, etc.

I have learned now that "registration books of permanent population"
("ksiegi ludnosci stalej") are at the branch archives in Pabianice. Does
anyone know if Pabianice happens to be the place to find most of the
materials for the town of Zgierz?
