KLEPFISZ from Warszawa #rabbinic

Elizabeth Jackson

Dear members,

I am researching the surnames: KLEPFISZ (various spellings),
INGBERG, GOLDFLAM, WASSERSPRING and BAUMWOLL. I know there were
several members of the KLEPFISZ family who were famous rabbis. If
any of these surnames are familiar to you, please let me know.

Specifically, my maternal grandmother was Sosse Charlotte (KLEFPISZ)
INGBERG (born 1887 Warsaw). Her father was an Orthodox rabbi in
Warsaw. I do not know his first name nor in which synagogue he
served. It is my understanding he died before 1918. His wife died
around 1918-1920.

It is my understanding that Sosse's brother, (?) KLEPFISZ was a
cantor, also in Warsaw. I believe he lived in a flat near the
synagogue. He was married to a woman who was a widow. She had a
daughter who went to Palestine. Together, they had two daughters
and one son (a boy and girl were twins with red hair, the other girl
was older than the twins).

I am hoping the above information will sound familiar to someone in
hopes of helping me identify my great grandfather, the rabbi.

I am thanking you in advance for your assistance!
