There was a large yeshiva in the town of Ponevitch (Panevëþys) in
Lithuania (currently located in Bnei Brak, Israel) and the Rosh
Yeshiva >from before the Holocaust, Rabbi Yosef Shlomo Kahaneman,
was known as the "Ponovitcher Rov". Maybe your Rabbi was associated
with this yeshiva as some point.

Subject: Surename "PARNCZEWER"

I would like to know if anyone ever heard of a rabbi Moshe PARNCZEWER, we
have some records with this name, some researchers believe that there is a
small village near Lodz and Strykow, and he must probably be the rabbi of
that town.
When doing a search in Jewish gen index of surnames, it does come up as a
surename.
it might also be pronounced "Parnitchover"
