My mother Brana ERLICHMAN, and 3 siblings, were born in Lysyanka,
town of Zvenigoroka, Zvenogorodka District, Kyyiv Gubernia. They
had a group birth certificate document that had the seal of the Chief
Rabbi. The name on the seal Rabbi is A. D. Prybish. I have been
told that the office of a Chief Rabbi was an appointed
position. Does anyone have any information regarding how the Rabbis
were selected and a database that would mention the individual l
Rabbis and their biographies?

Lysyanka was a very small town, more like a village. The seal
mentions that the Rabbi's jurisdiction was the Leshensky
District. It may have been known as the Leshinsky District, within
the town of Zvenigorodka which was also a district.
