Dear Fellow ROM-SIGgers,

Hopefully you are now all aware of the tremendously exciting news that
the Director-General of the Romanian National Archives, Dr. Dorin Dobrincu,
is to be our Guest Speaker at the Philadelphia Conference in August.

This is an incredible breakthrough for us, and we are hoping to give him
a warm and enthusiastic welcome. If we can give him a positive
experience among us it might be just the opening we have desired for so
long to better, more effective and helpful access to the records we all
so desire.

In order to do this the ROM-SIG has undertaken to pay for all expenses
incurred, with the exception of those provided to guest speakers by the
IAJGS. This will include his airfare, economy class >from Bucharest to
Philadelphia and return, his meals, including a ticket to the ROM-SIG
Luncheon, all nights at the hotel beyond the 3 provided by the IAJGS,
as well as any costs involved with a planned VIP visit to the US
National Archives in DC, to meet with our National Archivist. The
IAJGS will pay for those 3 nights I mentioned, his registration fee for
the Conference, and give us $600. to help with any of the costs we will
absorb.

Therefore - this letter is our appeal for donations >from our members to
help us defray these costs. We know that the economic times are not too
good, but we hope that the importance of this visit will encourage as
many of you as possible to give as much as you are able for this
historic event for Romanian researchers!
