I have also submitted an update to the Bessarabia Vital Records
database of over 4,600 births and 1,400 marriages. The births are from
Bendery area and Novoselitsa, the marriages are >from Kishinev. There
will over 162,000 records in the database when these records are

There will be two new databases in the Romanian databases. They are
the Moldavia Region Records and the Bucovina Region records. See for the
areas that are covered in the Geographical Regions for the JewishGen
Romania Database

The Moldavia Region will have over 9,600 births, 2,600 marriages and
1,400 deaths. These records will also be >from Dorohoi and include
records >from Harlau, Iasi and lesser quantities >from Bicaz, Burdujeni,
Falticeni, Herta, Lespezi, Pascani and Podu Iloaiei.

The Bucovina Region will have births >from Campulung Moldovenesc, Gura
Humorului, Radauti and the town of Suceava.

We can use more volunteers to help us translate the many records that
we have. If you are able to help us please contact me at . We can especially use volunteers
who know Romanian or German to work on some of our projects.

Donations are also needed so we can acquire more records. Please

ROM-SIG is on a roll. Help us go!

I read with interest the report below by Mr. Goldenberg's team. This
caused me to wonder what similar team activities are occurring at JewishGen
for birth and marriage records for:
Moldova/Romania/Bessarabia, particularly Yedintsy/Edinet/Yedinitz
Ukraine/Romania, particularly Briceni/Britchon/Brichany.
Any information will be appreciated.

I would like to update that our team has completed the acquisition and
indexing of Dorohoi city births 1886-1905 and civil marriages 1866 - 1905.

There are about 5700 Jewish births registered in the period 1886 -
1905. Quite disappointing, only about 770 Jewish marriages were
registered in the whole period 1866 - 1905.
In addition, we have acquired and indexed records >from the following
towns >from Botosani county: Botosani (1866-1910), Bucecea (1865-1898),
Saveni (1865-1907),
Mihaileni (1865-1895), Stefanesti (1865-1907, partial).
