IAJGS Awards Committee Announcement #scandinavia

Mark Halpern

Each year the IAJGS (International Association of Jewish Genealogical
Societies) recognizes individuals and organizations with four prestigious
awards for excellence in Jewish genealogy.

As was done in the last three years, rather than submitting nominations via
email or postal mail, nominations for all four award categories are to be
submitted online via a One-Step form. This online form is at
http://stevemorse.org/awards/nominate.php. If additional "hard-copy"
material is required to be sent, complete instructions are contained on the
online One-Step form. Our intent is to make it easier for the submitters and
for the committee members who have to review the submissions.

If submitters have not previously used the One-Step form and need some help
in using the online form to make their nominations, please contact the
Awards Committee Chair, Mark Halpern, by email at mark@halpern.com.

For 2011, as in past years, the four award categories are:
1. IAJGS Lifetime Achievement Award
2. Outstanding Contribution to Jewish Genealogy via the Internet, Print or
Electronic Product
3. Outstanding Programming or Project that Advanced the Objectives of Jewish
4. Outstanding Publication by a Member Organization of IAJGS

You will find explanations and criteria of each award and a listing of all
previous winners at http://www.iajgs.org/awards/awards.html.

Nominations can be made only by member organizations of the IAJGS and not by
individuals. However, we encourage individuals to be part of the process by
contacting their local organization and suggesting worthy nominees. For a
list of the JGSs and SIGs that make up the IAJGS, see

The recipients of the 2011 awards will be announced at the annual IAJGS
