SYMBOLS USED ON TOMBSTONES #sephardic

Hello,

In browsing through the Jewish cemetery in Rhodes, I noticed that often the
stones would have symbols, sometimes multiple, on the upper or the lower
parts of the stone. More common symbols used would be glasses, books,
plants, and vases. I have photos of five tombstones on viewmate (VM 9524,
9525, 9526, 9527, and 9528). I would appreciate your comments about what the
symbol is and suggestions on what it may mean or represent.
