Several recent messages on our mailing list have discussed a 1937/1938
Danzig address book, available online. I recently learned that a 1942
edition of this address book is also available online, at
This will obviously be of much less use to us, but I have seen at least
one Jew mentioned in it, and it is possible that many more are included.
Acording to an article by Dr. Grzegorz Berendt of the University of
Gdansk, which I hope to soon publish on our SIG website, there remained
in Danzig during the War at least 178 mixed Jewish-Christian families
consisting of about 370 persons (nearly all not registered by the Jewish
community in 1939).
