The Zborowski book (Life is with People) is a classic ethnography and one of
a kind, and, like many ethnographies done by anthropologists who fall in love
with the subject, is somewhat romanticized, as another member pointed out.
Reality is always a bit more grubby. Zborowki is noted for two other things:
his study of cultural factors influencing processing and perception of pain
at a Bronx VA hospital, and the fact that he was accused late in life of
being a KGB agent (by US govt) and complicit in the assassination of Leon
Trotsky's son, Leon Sedov, in Paris.
