Regarding the inquiry about a "Jewish Shipwreck," many Jews and non-Jews were rescued >from the sinking of the steamship Oregon on March 14, 1886 100 miles off Long Island, including my grandmother. There are writings about this shipwreck. All passengers were saved, and entered New York Harbor a few
days later on other vessels.
