I had a great aunt who was >from Zylinka in the Ukraine, but went to Paris to
work as a Modiste. Several members of the family in the process of coming
to the U.S., left Zylinka and went to stay with her in Paris for anywhere
from 3 months to a year before taking ship to the U.S. When the last of the
family had departed for the United States, she took her daughter and the two
of them came to the U.S. as well.
Although I have the papers detailing all this, I wish I knew more about
this. Was she sent to Paris to create an interim residence for the rest of
the family? There are so many unanswered questions that don't appear on
documents.
