LUBARSKY family from Zozov, Ukraine #ukraine

Shelly Crane

Hello,
I've recently come across a new surname in my tree >from a town in the
Lipovets Uyezd of Ukraine that I'm unfamiliar with and hope someone reading this
can provide information.

Looking at Ellis Island manifests, it appears the LJUBARSKY (also spelled
LUBARSKI) family came >from a town that was listed as "Zozow, Kiew, Russia," or
another spelling was "Fozow, Kiew."

Did an advanced search under Jewish Gen Community database and the only town
that looks like a possible fit using soundex, is "Sasov, Ukraine" in the
Zloczow Uyezd and approximately 249 mi W of Kyyiv. Instinct tells me this is
not the town. I say this because the relative of mine (KVACHINSKI) who married
into the LJUBARSKY family, was born in Pliskov, which is 92 miles SW of
Kyyiv.

Looking at the Ukraine Database under Kiev Gubernia Duma Voter's list, I
found a LJUBARSKY listed who lived in Zozov(m) in the Lipovets Uyezd. The (m)
refers to mestechko, or small village. This is almost certainly the correct
location.

I imagine it's not listed under the Jewish Gen Community Database, because
it's a small village. Did a google search and there isn't much information to
learn about this town.

Is there anyone familiar with Zozov, Lipovets and/or researching the
LJUBARSKY family?
Please reply privately, unless you think there is useful general information
for the group.
