Elliott asks:

<I may visit the Polish State Archives in Warsaw this fall. Has anybody
recently visited there and conducted personal research? Through
JRI-Poland, I have found out the names of a number of relatives with
accompanying index information. LDS films exist for some of the =
records.=20
Where there are no index records, is the best approach simply to visit =
the
archives? How helpful are the people there, given language barriers,
especially where exact years are not known and some individuals' records
are probably in years that have not been indexed so far. I realize one =
can
order records >from PSA as well. How easy and efficient has that process
gone for people? =20

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide. =20

Here is my take on visiting the Warszawa Archives on Krzywe Ko=B3o =
street.
I have found that you really need to know the language or have someone =
with
you who knows Polish. It also takes time >from when you order the =
register
to when it actually arrives in the research room >from the stacks. Be
prepared to wait or to order the item one day and do the research the =
next
day. Best to know the fond number, which can you find out by using one =
of
the four databases which appears on the Polish State Archives website. =
