reverting to maiden name after divorce? #poland #warsaw

I have a Warszawa birth record c. 1850 showing the birth of Abraham Michael
Walfisz to Chai Walfisz, divorced. I have some circumstantial evidence
suggesting that Walfisz was Chai's maiden name, rather than the surname of
her divorced husband. Does anyone know if that would be the 'norm'? Would
a divorced woman revert back to her maiden name, and if so, would her
(young) children be brought up with that name?
