When researching old time vaudeville acts, a significant resource is
Variety Magazine. Variety began publication in December 1905. Even the
earliest issues carry many pages of vaudeville reviews and advertisements
for the acts in many of the larger cities.

The issues are available on microfilm and are especially useful for short
obituaries of theater and vaudeville personalities. In Washington, the
Library of Congress has Variety for review. I would expect that some other
large libraries have a similar set.
