Our reader, Hattie Berman-Murphy, is seeking information about Hattie
CONNERS (or CONNORS) who may have appeared in a Lewis Fields production at
the Broadway Theater (assumed New York City) in mid-August 1911.
I believe the best resource, when having the approximate date and location,
is Variety Magazine, The weekly magazine has been in publication since
1905 and is available on microfilm at many large city libraries. I would
assume the NY Public Library has the microfilm.
The New York Times of August 20, 1911, reports that Lew Fields and his
company was having a successful run at the Broadway Theater of a production
called "The Hen Pecks". The show is reported to have a company of 100
performers. Productions that followed "The Hen Pecks" were to be
"The Never Homes" and "The Wife Hunters", also Lew Fields efforts at the
Broadway Theater. Tryouts were being held in August 1911 and one of those
three may have been the production that included Hattie Conners. Variety
Magazine may have more regarding the performers.
