Givatayim, Israel Meeting Nov. 13, 2019 Pedigree Scrolls Throughout Jewish History
Hinda Solomon
Israel Genealogy Research Association - Lecturer Beniamin Panteliat.
The lecture will be in Hebrew.
As part of the International Month of Jewish Genealogy, Beniamin Panteliat will introduce us to the world of pedigree scrolls of the Jewish people. What are they? When did they come into being? And why? How were relationships documented? How was documentation kept in different periods and how was it passed from generation to generation? Why did the members of the Ibn Danan family from Morocco make sure to write down their yichus as far as Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon on every ketubah? Beniamin Panteliat is an expert in rabbinical genealogy, and helps bridge the gap between ancient genealogies and modern family trees.
