Join us for the next IGRA meeting in Ra’anana on December 2, 2019. Our guest speaker is Radovan Sremac who will speak on “Genealogy and the Origin of Jewish Families in Serbia and Croatia”. The lecture will be in English.

In this lecture Radovan will speak about Jewish genealogy, historical sources on families and discovering the origins of Jewish families in Serbia and Croatia. Jews have settled in present-day Serbia and Croatia since ancient times. However, mass settlement did not occur until the 18th century. It is possible to trace family histories in the area from the first half of the 19th century when Jewish vital records started to be kept.

Radovan Sremac is an archaeologist and a curator who has published many articles in the field of archaeology and history. He is also the author of several books on genealogy and history of the Jewish and non-Jewish populations in Serbia. He has also been recognized by the Israeli government for expanding friendship between Serbia and Israel.

NEW LOCATION: Ra’anana Archives, 6 Golomb Street (between Eliezer Yaffe and Borochov streets), Ra'anana.

Doors open at 19:00.   Meeting begins at 19:30.
