Harvey Finberg <hjfinberg@...>

To introduce myself, I am Vera Finberg >from Fairfax, Virginia,
USA. I've been interested in genealogy since I was 8 years old and
my mother drew a family tree. I did some genealogy in the 1960's and
then dropped it to raise two children. In the early 1990's, I
discovered the joys of computer genealogy programs and have been
active ever since.

My mother's family all comes >from Bohemia. On her maternal side,
Mendel THIEBEN, my 5th ggrandfather, and his wife Anna FLUSSER are
listed in the 1793 census for the Slabce estate in the village of
Svinarov. My gggrandfather, Viktor (1825-1915) had a farm in Rousinov
(Rausinov), 3 km away. Viktor first married Sophie ABELES >from
Luchovice, daughter of Jacob ABELES and Katherine LEDERER of
Busovice. They had 5 children including my ggrandfather Heinrich
(1856-1942). After Sophie's death (abt 1870), he married Emilie
LOWENSTEIN (probably >from Tuschkau (Mesto Touskov or Kozolupy). They
moved to Austria where several children were born in villages near
Bruck a.d. Leitha. He then moved to Buscu in the Burgenland (now in
Hungary). I have now found two of Sophie's siblings in the Vienna
marriages for the 1870's, so Viktor may have migrated with kin. My
ggrandfather, Heinrich, married Marie KOHNER (1864-1931) born in
Budapest, daughter of Pauline KLAUBER and Ludwig (Lajos) KOHNER both
from Neumark (Vseruby)). Ludwig must have been related to the
Zsigmund Kohner, the Hungarian banker, as he was a witness to the
birth of a child to Zsigmund's brother. The family moved to Vienna
and Budapest in the late 1800's and many survived. I was fortunate to
obtain a family tree that was probably drawn to meet Hungarian Nazi
requirements.

My mother's paternal family, BONDY, comes >from Lipnice/Dolni Mesto,
near Humpolec. My gggrandfather, Simon Bondy married Sara SINEK
(SYNEK) >from Mlada Vozice. They lived in Votice for a while and then
moved to Dolni Mesto. Simon had no Familanten number and the civil
marriage is recorded in 1849. My ggrandfather, Lazar SYNEK
(1833-1906), married Karoline FLUSS(1845-1932) >from Pribyslau. Her
parents, David FLUSS and Elizabeth STIEDRY were >from Goltsch-Jenikau.
The family moved to Vienna about 1875 and Lazar officially took the
name BONDY in 1905. Vienna (wills, probate documents, birth,
marriages death and military records have been instrumental in
learning about the family. I have written a book about my BONDY
family, which is not so far related to several other Bondy families.
