On the 5th of May 2006, 80,000 white roses were
deposited at the addresses of holocaust victims in
Austria. It was a nice thought and a gesture well-
meant. Some survivors and many grieving relatives
were also present which added to the poignancy of the

Here you can see photos of the scenes. There is also
a new interactive map giving details of victims living
outside Vienna - you click on each rose to get
details.

In Vienna, there are so many victims [the bulk of the
80,000] that I have not had any luck with clicking on
a white rose to bring up any names - the enormity of
the crime has apparently beaten the designers of the
website.
