Here is more info about my cryptic reference to "MA-8" regarding the
subject:

Some info is on our Aus-Czech SIG web site as follows:

" Beginner's Guide to Austrian-Jewish Genealogy " , by E. Randol Schoenberg

The Gasometer archive has long opening hours and is often more convenient
than the Israelitische Kultusgemeinde.

Magistrat der Stadt Wien
Magistratsabteilung 8
Wiener Stadt- und Landesarchiv
Gasometer D, Wien 11, Guglgasse 14
postal address: Rathaus, A-1082 Vienna
Tel.: +43-1-4000-84815
Fax: +43-1-4000-7238
e-mail: POST@m08.magwien.gv.at

But the best info now is at their web site at
http://www.wien.gv.at/english/history/municipalarchiv/index.htm

Here is an e-mail request that I have sent, with good response:

"I am searching for my family history including my cousins, the SCHWARZ
family; a Jewish family of Vienna.
I would like to get a copy of the complete Todfallsaufnahme (Death Records)
for Leopold SCHWARZ, as it may have useful information regarding other
members of his family, such as brothers and sisters, nephews and nieces.
I did receive the complete Todfallsaufnahme (Death Records) for Josef
SCHWARZ, Leopold's brother-in-law, who died 2 May 1910. This was included
in your letter to me dated 18 Jan 2006. The family information in the
Todfallsaufnahme was new to me and very helpful. I am hoping that new and
helpful information will be in the same type document for Leopold SCHWARZ,
died in 1913.
Thank you for you help. Sincerely........"

They did not require any fees for this service.

Hope you get some good info >from MA-8
