Austria-Czech SIG #Austria-Czech Re: IAJGS NY Conference Attendees 2006 - Final developments #austria-czech

Celia Male <celiamale@...>

A few days ago I sent you the final list of participants to the NY
conference - here are a few last-minute comments and developments:

My sincere apologies to Georgia Haken who morphed to Gloria!
11. Georgia Haken - researching PROPPER - 1840?-1880's in Laun, Saaz,
Teplice,Krusovice & Prague and later <1920> in Bubentsch. Also
PROBER-GOLD & ZINGER >from Tarnopol & Vienna.

15. Jeffrey Levin, Scarsdale, NY Researching LOWIN/LEVIN, Vienna
attending Sun and Mon only because he will be visiting Prague and
Budapest for the ***first time***. Bon Voyage!

17. Rabbi Avrohom Marmorstein - we are delighted that he will be
introducing Alec Woodle's talk - so he is a quasi-speaker!

19. Gertrude Singer Ogushwitz - researching FISCHL, Arad, Hungary
(now Romania); KONIGSBAUM: Vienna & Hungary; SINGER >from Moravia to
Arad, Hungary, 1730; SPILLER: Hungary; England; Galati, Romania

Ray Minkus [Chicago] hopes he has a spotted SPILLER link here. We all
hope so too! Intriguingly there is a widow Ellen SPILLER [50] born in
Poland who is the synagogue-keeper in the Great Synagogue, Cheetham
Manchester in 1881. She actually lived in the synagogue.

22. Linda Rakoff of Newton Mass. - researching ASCHNER, Vienna
has added a whole new list of names, many outside our area, but links
are very likely - see the story beneath this:

ASCHNER, Assakurte, Berko, Bratislava, Budapest, Hradiste, Katlo,
Kosice, Malacky, Nyitra, Spisska Nova Ves, Wien, Berlin,
Beuthen/Bytom, Breslau/Wroclaw,Brunovce, Danzig, Chorzow
[Konigshutte], Kattowitz; LIFSITZ-Galati; GELLMAN, POLASCEK- Kosice,
GOLDMAN(N), LANGER - Kosice, Bolyar; Miskolc, Presov; LOW'Y -
Brezova, Hradiste, Spisska Nova; Ves MELTZER, PERLBINDER, LADENHEIM,
RIESENBERG - Horodenka, Kasperowicz, Zaleschicki; GORDON-Moletai,
WATMAN, MILLER-Lithuania, Ponemunka

Linda very recently spotted a posting of mine [General Discussion
Group] on intestacy researchers working in the archives in Vienna. In
this I mentioned both my gtgt and my gtgrandfather Leopold and Gustav
WOTTITZ {Pressburg and Vienna]. Linda realised she had the name
WOTTIEZ on her tree. As a result, I was reconnected to Gustav's
sister Amalia {nee WOTTITZ] married to Jonas FELSNER whom I last
heard of in 1906 on the Partezettel [death announcement] of my
gtgrandmother Betti WOTTITZ nee Tedesko!

So I am now "sort of" related to Linda via an ASCHNER FELSNER link
and I have found many of Amalia's descendants, who are my third
cousins. Most never came to Vienna but ended up in Transylvania
[Romania] and Budapest. I now notice quite a few WOTTIEZ on Google in
the Netherlands and environs. They need further research to see if
they are of Bohemian origin.

Thanks a million, Linda

28. Robert Stein - researching HIRSCH/STEIN/LEDERER

Fred Posamentir >from Vienna has spotted potential links. Good luck
Fred and Robert.

The trouble for Austria-Czech Siggers is that our links spread well
outside ou SIG boundaries! This, once again, is clearly shown above
and we have to be extra vigilant.
