I have happily been using the Czech version of this invaluable
database:
http://digi.nacr.cz/prihlasky/

which shows 555,291 records. The digitisation is proceeding
alphabetically and had hardly reached the letter *K*.

I knew something was amiss when Peter Bakos asked me to research
his newly-discovered LEDETSCH family which he had found on this
database. I tried and tried and found only two: BRANDEIS/LEDETSCH
and FRIEDLANDER/LEDETSCH, yet Peter found 21. I was dubious but
now all has been revealed.

The original [and presumably the authentic] Czech version has only
555,291 records and the English version, which Peter has been using,
has 874,129 records including LEDETSCH! There are now over 3,000
Prague KOHN records, but in the English version only.

How this discrepancy has come about is anyone's guess but let's
explore our new-found bonanza and see what treasures are revealed.

A very puzzled, yet very happy, researcher. I wonder if the archives
in Prague know?
