This message concerns the BLOCHS >from Brno, the EISENSTADTER BUZIAS >from Ba=
nat and Vienna, the LANDESMANN >from Teplice and Usti nad Labem and the FUERTH
from Strakonice. These are the familial roots of my gr grandparents Luisa andFelix BLOCH whose lives I've been helping to research the past couple of years.
I would be very much interested in hearing >from descendents of these famili=
es or others with overlapping research interests.
The time period in focus is >from the birth of Felix and Luisa in the
1870-80s until the death of their daughter, my grandmother, Helene HERRMANN
(born BLOCH, later PANOFSKY) in 1965.
Themes for our research include the Jewish womens' association of Brno, the
human rights leagues in Brno, German cultural associations in Brno such as
Schlaraffia Bruna Burschenschaft and Deutsches Haus, aryanisation
of family businesses, including E. Bloch & Sohner, the deportation of Czech refugees
to Lodz, the Czech Jewish exile community in London and the connections to and fate
of family friends, in-laws, and colleagues such as the BASCH, Hofrad Dr. Michael ECKSTEIN,
Manfred EISLER,=C2=A0the FREUNDS, the FREUNDLICH, the HERDANS, the HERMANNs ,
the IRMENBACHS, >from Prague, Nora LUSTIG, the LOEW-BEER, the PETSCHEKS >from Usti
nad Labem, the SCHERBAKS and Dr. Otto SCHUTZ.
