Marianopol is certainly a wrongspelling/-reading of the town of Marijampole
(Mariampol in Russian and Polish), today in southwestern Lithuania, formerly
a district center in the Suvalki guberniya. The shtetls Lazdijai and Simnas
are in the neighbouring districts (uyezds) of Sejny and Kalvarija.
