Can anyone help me identify the place they might be referring to?

I am guessing that "Kenosheen" may have been a garbled version of "Knishin,
the Yiddish version of "Knyszyn," which is northwest of and close to
Bialystok.

Has Ms.Cleary tried Jewishgen's "Shtetlseeker" ? If there she types in
"Knyszyn" and uses the "zoom out" function, she could see how clse to Minskt this
town might be.
