Keep in mind that to be included in some county histories the individual
had to contribute to the publication to even be included. I don't know
how many were like this but enough to not assume anything >from the
exclusion/inclusion of someone.

This became apparent to me when I was researching my
great-great-grandfather and he was barely mentioned although he was a
major (and apparently popular) employer in the county. His obituary and
his wife's obituary made up for the lack of information in the county
histories (both on the front page, included pictures and both were quite
long).
