1850's Louisiana law #usa

Dottie Miller

When a fiance fulfilled the legal requirement to declare his Intent to
marry in Louisiana in the 1850's, did his fiancee have to be present?

When a couple officially married, did the couple have to produce
documents proving the identity of each, such as date of birth and place
of birth?

Thank you for any help you might be able to give me!
