I am currently working on an academic paper on the topic Soviet Jews Write
Abroad (1941-1945): Correspondence as Historical Source, which I will
present at an international conference entitled Jewish Soldiers in World
War II which will take place in May 2017 at Tel Aviv University, organized
by the Goldstein-Goren Diaspora Research Center.
Towards this end, I would like to ask if any of you may have letters or
other forms of correspondence >from the former Soviet Union to areas abroad
during WWII preserved in your family archives. I have several dozens of
letters >from the USSR evacuation areas to Palestine and to the United
States, but there must have also been correspondence >from Soviet Jews to
other countries as well, such as Canada, South Africa, Argentina and others.
I am therefore most interested to hear of any correspondence that might fall
into this category.
If you do have any such correspondence in your possession, I would greatly
appreciate if you would let me know and send me copies of the letters, if at
all possible. I am also eager to hear how they were preserved in your family
and if it is known the history of the people who participated in the
correspondence during WWII and their subsequent fates.
With thanks and best regards,
