Bessarabia SIG #Bessarabia Orphan projects, and not used sections of our website #bessarabia

Yefim Kogan

Hi everybody,

I am not sure if you want to hear about our Bessarabia SIG orphan
projects... but I need to tell you, that there are a number of very
important projects, which are not going anywhere...

Some of the projects may not be publicized enough, for others we may not
have yet volunteers interested.

All these projects were announced at some point. Here they are:

- Business directory for two towns in Podol Gubernia, now in Republic of
Moldova: Rashkov and Rybnitsa, 1913. I translated Kamenka town records and
you can see the records in Bessarabian Databases section, but no one wanted
to work on Rashkov and Rybnitsa.
- Bessarabian Newspapers >from 1850s to 1940. You can see information at
Research Project section, project #39.
- We need someone to visit CAHJP in Jerusalem and research their information
on Bessarabia and Moldova, in order to get some set of records >from CAHJP.
- List of Merchants, businessmen >from Klyachkin Directory of 1901.
- There are a number of Yizkor Books waiting their translation, including
Kishinev Yizkor Book.
- Poets, Writers, Musician >from Bessarabia, Moldova - translate >from Russian
short biographies of Jews >from our region.
- Create KehilaLinks website for a number of towns in Bessarabia/Moldova.
We have very few KehilaLinks websites... If you care about a town or
sheitle - please start working on the website. The most important part is
to COLLECT information needed for the website. The technical aspect is very
easy, and a number of people could help.
- Upgrade existing websites with most recent information published at our
Bessarabia SIG website or other places.

Some parts of our website are not in use at all. We had a great initiative
last year: "Helping Other Bessarabia SIG Members" - to display photos,
documents in question, but after initial several postings, nothing
happened. I am pretty sure that you have photos with people you cannot
recognize, or a documents you need to understand. This is the place to
post.

Also our Family Tree, Family Memoirs, Stories, Photo Gallery, Emigration
from Bessarabia, Travel to Bessarabia sections were not updated a long time.
Suggestions, ideas are very welcome.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

All the best,
Yefim Kogan
