Shalom Fellow Searchers,
The photo of my wife's grandfather, Arsen MELNIK, [c.1898 - c.1944] is now displayed on the
ViewMate Image Gallery page with the number 55232
What, if anything, can be understood >from the "Pillbox" style, flat top, black kippah, and any other
clues in this photo?
We know little, if anything, with certainty prior to his 1933 marriage to Sanda KUSHNER.
The stories of his arrival to Bessarabia walking alone >from Yampol Ukraine, at age SEVEN! c.1905
lead to dead ends.
I consider the name of his martyred son, Tzodek, the best clue, due to naming patterns found
for MELNIK in Marijampole, Lithuania.
Does the cylindrical [not dome nor cone] kippah suggest place, time, sect?
Thanks to all!
Ezra Zalman MAGID
