BialyGen: Bialystok Region #Bialystok #Poland Yizkor Book Project, March 2013 #poland

Lance Ackerfeld <lance.ackerfeld@...>

Shalom,

Whilst you munch on your matzo, I will provide you with something to read
about what happened in the Yizkor Book Project during March.

For a start, as I predicted in previous reports, there were a number of
projects that were completed this month.

- Dotnuva, Lithuania (Letters >from Dotnuva)
- Kremenets, Ukraine (Memorial book of Krzemieniec)
- Szczuczyn, Poland (>from the Inferno Back to Life)

The completion of the Kremenets book, in particular, comes after many years
of dedicated coordination by Ron Doctor and Ellen Garshick and quite a few
volunteers who deserve a deal of thanks for their splendid translations. The
result of all this team's efforts has now been rewarded by the placement of
the whole book online but they certainly aren't resting on their laurels and
the translations of other Kremenets Yizkor Books continues on with great
earnest.

It is also important for me to note the completion of the Szczuczyn project
which is a personal memoir belong to Itzhak Wertman z"l, who sadly passed
away quite recently. I had the honor of being in contact this fine gentleman
over many years and, as with many of the Holocaust survivors, he saw the
great importance of making the Yizkor Book material readily available to the
present generation and those to come. We are deeply indebted to him for his
participation with the YB Project.

Now in order for our project to continue and expand, we are always on the
lookout for volunteers to help out in the wide scope of activities the
Yizkor Book Project involves. So, if you are able to translate >from Hebrew
or Yiddish, edit translated material or help type up English pages, your
assistance in these fields would be most welcome and I would be very pleased
to hear >from you.
