My Heritage announced on June 4,2018 that a file with email addresses and
hashed passwords of over 92 million users who signed up to MyHeritage up to
and including October 26,2017 was found on a private server outside of
MyHeritage. Rather than store passwords, MyHeritage uses a one-way hash of
each password. There has been no evidence that the data file was ever used
by the perpetrators.
