Rachel Unkefer's 30 October suggestion that U.S. County Histories may be
fruitful genealogical sources can be applied ditto for Canada. I not only
found a flattering reference to my g-grandfather in a County History from
the late 19th c. but also uncovered that the author was a close friend of my
g-grandfather. This could account for the flattery but the local newspaper
was also flattering over a thirty year period, which included a change of
editors. So add local newspapers for your genealogical searches as well.
