I have now several ancestors that I need to research >from their arrival
in America in the 1600 and 1700's backwards to Europe.

I can find them on the ships passengers lists in most cases (but not all)
but then I don't know how to begin looking for them at their ports of
emmigration.

I know how to do some internet research on the computer but I am only
a beginner with this.

Do you have any suggestions where and how I can start researching?

Most of my ancestors landed in Maryland, Delaware, Philadephia, Pennsylvania
and Virginia that I'm aware. Any help is appreciated.
